BRIEF: Police: Woman found shot to death in Edinburg apartment

Source: The Monitor, McAllen, TexasOct.mini storage 26--EDINBURG -- Police found a 20-year-old Edinburg woman dead on the floor of her apartment Friday night, apparently killed by one or more gunshot wounds.Police fielded several reports of shots fired in the area of an apartment complex on the 2400 block of Kimberly Lane at 9:27 p.m. Friday. Upon arriving at the apartment, officers noticed the door to one apartment was open and had signs of gunshots to the door, said Lt. Oscar Trevi隳, an Edinburg Police Department spokesman.When officers entered the apartment, "they found the lifeless body of an adult female lying on the floor," Trevi隳 said.The victim, Joliss儲存 Rangel, 20, lived in the apartment with her 2-year-old son and an adult sister. Police believe the victim was alone when she was shot.Police have yet to identify any suspects, though the investigation is ongoing and they are working to track down leads, Trevi隳 said."We have guys who were working on it all night and are still working on it," he added.Investigators believe multiple shots were fired.
