2 Santa Paula residents arrested after carjacking, pursuit through several cities

Source: Ventura County Star, Calif.儲存Oct. 28--Two Santa Paula residents were arrested early Monday after a violent carjacking and police pursuit through several cities, Ventura police said.The incident began about 8:55 p.m. near Victoria Avenue and Thille Street when a witness reported a carjacking.Responding officers discovered that the victim was driving her pickup when she got into an argument with her passenger, Denise Morales, 32, police said.Morales allegedly hit the victim several times as the victim was driving. Once the victim stopped the truck, Morales continued hitting the victim and eventually pulled her from the truck. Morales then got into the driver's seat and tried to drive away. The victim tried to stop Morales but was tangled in the seatbelt as the suspect was driving away, police said. The victim was dragged by the truck before she was able to free herself while Morales kept driving. She was last seen heading south on Saratoga Avenue, police said.Officers searched the area but where not able to find Morales or the victim's truck.The victim suffered moderate injuries and was taken to Ventura County Medical Center.About 2:30 a.m. Monday, a Santa Paula police officer spotted the s迷你倉olen truck near Santa Paula Street and Steckel Drive. The driver sped off and a pursuit began, police said. The driver got on westbound Highway 126 and continued onto northbound Highway 101, where Ventura police joined the pursuit. The driver eventually got off on California Street in Ventura and the pursuit continued into downtown. The driver continued through a residential area, Ventura Avenue and eventually got onto southbound Highway 33, all while driving more than 60 mph and running red lights, police said. The pursuit continued onto southbound Highway 101, where the California Highway Patrol joined. The driver exited onto Rose Avenue and the pursuit continued through south Oxnard before the driver finally stopped near Pleasant Valley and Saviors roads.Driver Jason Castillo, 27, and Morales, who was a passenger, were arrested, officials said.Morales was into Ventura County jail on suspicion of carjacking, assault with a deadly weapon and a parole warrant.
